Spain face Wales in a friendly clash at the Principality Stadium tonight without a main man in defence for a second consecutive international break.
Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has been omitted from both squads named by his former boss Luis Enrique.
The pair reportedly clashed at the Nou Camp during Enrique’s final season with Alba dipping in and out of the first team for the Catalan giants.
Enrique claims Alba’s omission is a sporting decision but question marks remain over how deep the row goes from the duo’s Barcelona fall-out.
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso appears to be the No 1 left-back going forward for Spain, though Wolves ace Jonny has been handed his first call-up to the squad.
The Premier League new boy has earned plenty of praise so far this season and will be keen to made the most of his reward.
Kepa Arrizabalaga could start between the sticks for the friendly clash with David De Gea on the bench.
Kepa’s Chelsea team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to feature due to Dani Carvajal’s injury.
AC Milan have not enjoyed their start to the 2018/19 Serie A campaign, though Suso’s terrific form could see him start for the first time for Spain since his international debut last November.
The winger has already recorded six assists and two goals in the league this season and looks set to be tested by Enrique.
Predicted Spain team vs Wales
(4-3-3) Kepa; Azpilicueta, Ramos, Pique, Alonso; Niguez, Rodrigo, Thiago; Suso, Moreno, Asensio.
